Syed Afzal Haider is a writer and Senior Editor at Chicago Quarterly Review. He was born in India, lived in Pakistan and studied in America. His prose has been widely published and anthologized, and his books include the novel To Be With Her and the story collection Lust. Loss. Longing.

Jerald Walker is the author of Street Shadows: A Memoir of Race, Rebellion, and Redemption, recipient of the 2011 PEN New England/L.L. Winship Award for Nonfiction. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including four times in The Best American Essays. His memoir about being raised in a doomsday cult will be published in the spring. He teaches creative writing at Emerson College.
